At the 2019 National Convention in Orlando, FL an Advisor track was offered. Attached are the presentation slides from the programming sessions.

Sean Callan

Attorney, Fraternal Law Partners

Sean Callan is a Founding Partner of Fraternal Law Partners. He advises national fraternities and sororities, foundations and house corporations on a wide range of business issues, including corporate governance, real estate, grant-making, housing issues and tax-exempt issues. In addition, Callan offers national Greek organizations (and their chapters) risk management, anti-hazing, and crisis and incident management services. He is a regular contributor to the Fraternal Law Newsletter, a quarterly publication dedicated to the legal issues relevant to Greek organizations, as well as a frequent speaker on a variety of issues confronting the Greek industry including risk management, hazing and chapter housing.

Callan is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in both Real Estate Law and Land Use and Zoning Law, and is rated AV® Preeminent™ in Martindale-Hubbell. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Top Trial Lawyers in America. He has more than 20 years of experience in the practice of law. He earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (Order of the Coif, 1993) and graduated with honors while earning a B.A. from Dartmouth College (1990). He is a member of the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Ohio State and Kentucky Bar Associations. Callan is also a member of Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity.

Connor Brady

Faculty Advisor, Beta Delta Chapter

Connor is the Community Director for the University Honors Quad at North Carolina State University, a public land grant institution located in Raleigh, NC. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 2016 with a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership Studies. Originally from Asheboro, North Carolina, he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in May 2014.

Ilana Linder

Attorney, Fraternal Law Partners

Ilana is an associate with Fraternal Law Partners. She is a Cincinnati native who joined Manley Burke as an associate in 2018. Her practice focuses on Higher Education and Tax Exempt Organizations.

Ilana earned her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University before attending law school at Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While in law school, she served as an articles editor for the Indiana Journal of Law & Social Equality, and was awarded oral advocacy honors while participating in the Sherman Minton Moot Court competition. She also received two “CALI Excellence for the Future Awards” in recognition of her academic accomplishments in the law of philanthropy and nonprofit organizations. After law school, she earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and started her (current) Ph.D. in Education Policy program at the IU School of Education.

David Serafini

Faculty Advisor, Beta Phi Chapter

David Serafini is an Instructor in the Department of History at Western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green. He received his bachelor's degree in History in 1994, a master's degree in United States and Kentucky history in 1997, and completed post-Master's work in Military history in 2010, all from Western Kentucky University. David has been the Beta Phi Chapter Advisor since 2009, became an Honorary Member in 2010 and served as a National Council Member, Vice President of Chapter Development, from 2012-2014. David is a Member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, and is a Renaissance Brother and Faculty Advisor and Fellow of the Kentucky Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Western Kentucky University.

Charlin Jones-Chávez (Epsilon Mu Honorary Member & Faculty Advisor)

Senior Associate Director for Student Activities at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)

Charlin Jones-Chávez, Ph.D. is the Senior Associate Director for Student Activities at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), a Hispanic Serving Institution located in San Antonio, TX. Charlin is also an alum of UTSA herself having graduated with a Doctorate Educational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2002. Charlin is an Honorary Member of the Epsilon Mu Chapter.

Kathryn Shirk

Faculty Advisor, Omicron Chapter

Kathryn Shirk is an Associate Professor of Physics at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Kathryn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics at Shippensburg University, where she became a Member of the Omicron Chapter. Kathryn also earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. After a brief period working as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, Kathryn was recruited to Purdue University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering.

Shannon Stewart

Faculty Advisor, Zeta Xi Chapter

Shannon Stewart is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at Coastal Carolina University, in Conway, South Carolina, (near Myrtle Beach). She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's
degree in English and was a Charter Member of the Alpha Kappa Chapter. Shannon earned her master's degree in English Literature from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, while on a full scholarship as a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar. Her doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition is from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
